Residents and Businesses Required to Remove Snow from Sidewalks on Friday, January 5
Town of Middletown
January 5, 2018
All property owners in the Town of Middletown are responsible for removing snow and ice from the sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after snowfall.
If you have a fire hydrant, storm drain and/or a pedestrian-access ramp bordering your lot, it is your responsibility to remove snow around these areas to prevent street flooding and ice build-up. It is illegal to put snow into the roadway as it causes hazardous conditions.
Failure to remove snow is a violation of Town Ordinance 94.01 Owners to Remove Snow, Debris from Sidewalks and can result in a citation and fines.
The Middletown Police Department will be monitoring conditions after snowfall and working with residents and businesses to ensure that property owners are clearing sidewalks in accordance with the Town Code.
