Boards, Commissions & Committees

The various public boards, commissions and committees of Middletown help to oversee vital functions in the community. Appointments are made by a majority vote of the Middletown Town Council. The links to the left contain basic descriptions of these groups.

Public notices are published in the Newport Daily News as vacancies occur. For a list of current vacancies and an application to serve, please contact the office of the Town Clerk.

Meetings of public bodies are subject to Open Meetings law. The text of the Open Meetings law is available here: Open Meetings. Access to public records is subject to Public Records law. The text of the Public Records law is available here: Records.

Open Meetings law recently changed to require public bodies to file meeting agendas and minutes electronically. The Town Clerk serves as the Electronic Filing Coordinator. The new filing rules are available here: Electronic Filing

As information becomes available from the new electronic Town Crier, you will be able to search agendas and minutes through the various board, commissions, and committee pages. Some boards, commissions and committees do not files minutes electronically. Town Council minutes are filed with Clerkbase.
