DSC05752The Mission of the Town Engineer

  • Survey, design, and prepare drawings for the Department of Public Works projects and Town infrastructure projects. These include sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water lines, and road construction. Coordinate projects with other utility companies.
  • Prepare requests for qualifications for engineering projects. Prepare bid packages, plans, and specifications for construction projects. Projects include utility and roadwork.
  • Review drainage, stormwater management, and utility plans for planning board and zoning board applications. Certify to planning board completeness of new road and utility construction. Make recommendations to the planning board for the release of bonds during the construction of new roads and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and review RIDOT projects that will impact the Town.
  • Ex-Officio member to the Conservation Commission. 

Maidford River Restoration Project

For years, the Maidford River on the east side of Middletown has presented challenges. These include water quality issues and flooding, among other related concerns. To help try to turn things around, the Town is working with several partners on one section of the river along Berkeley Avenue. Below is information and videos about the group's work to date.
