NUWC Division Newport will host SeaPort-NxG and Contracts Council meeting in January


The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport will host an in-person SeaPort-NxG and Contracts Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. at the command.

Registration for the event is required by Jan. 6, 2023, by emailing Sarah Heard, director of Division Newport’s Office of Small Business Programs at sarah.w.heard.civ@us.navy.mil. Emails should include attendee’s name, company, commercial and government entity (CAGE) code, size and socioeconomic status, a phone number and an email address.


SeaPort-NxG is the Navy's electronic platform for acquiring support services in 23 functional areas including engineering, financial management and program management. SeaPort-NxG provides an efficient and effective means of contracting for professional support services and enhances small business participation. The Navy conducts rolling admissions to allow new industry partners the opportunity to participate.

SeaPort-NxG and Contracts Council meetings are held approximately every six months as a means of facilitating and encouraging communication between the NUWC Division Newport Contracts Department and industry. Industry is invited to submit questions to Heard (sarah.w.heard.civ@us.navy.mil) by Friday, Dec. 30.  


 The unclassified event will be held in-person at 
Division Newport’s Building 80 Gymnasium, 1176 Howell St., Newport, RI 02841.  

A tentative agenda includes the following:

  • 8:15 a.m. - Registration and networking
  • 9 a.m. - SeaPort-NxG Council meeting
  • Welcome and introductions
  • Contracts Department, Code 02, and leadership presentations
  • Small Business Office, Code 00K, presentation
  • Industry Q&A
  • 11:30 a.m.- Closing remarks

Participation and access to Division Newport is predicated on current COVID-19 guidance and is subject to change. Effective Jan. 12, 2022, all official visitors to Department of Defense (DoD) property, installations, and facilities are required to complete DD Form 3150, Visitor Certification of Vaccination, and present to Security/Visitor Control for attestation of their vaccination status before entry is authorized. (DoD government employees should have DD Form 3175 on hand.) Official visitors who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or who decline to volunteer their COVID-19 vaccination status, must show an electronic or paper copy of negative results from a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-authorized or approved COVID-19 test administered no earlier than 72 hours prior to the visit. (At-home testing results will not be accepted.) Failure to present such test results will result in Visitor Control denying an access to the meeting. 


On arrival at Building 80, personnel will be asked COVID-19 screening questions and be required to show DD Form 3150 or DD Form 3175 to gain access to the gym. 


NUWC Newport is the oldest warfare center in the country, tracing its heritage to the Naval Torpedo Station established on Goat Island in Newport Harbor in 1869. Commanded by Capt. Chad Hennings, NUWC Newport maintains major detachments in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Andros Island in the Bahamas, as well as test facilities at Seneca Lake and Fisher's Island, New York, Leesburg, Florida, and Dodge Pond, Connecticut.
