MIDDLETOWN MEETING MATTERS
MIDDLETOWN TOWN COUNCIL
When: Monday night.
Where: Middletown Town Hall, 350 East Main Road.
Absent: None.
Of note:
- Received an update from Town Solicitor Peter B. Regan about the Town’s position with the potential legalization of marijuana on a statewide basis. Regan said the community continues to monitor the issue and there are existing regulations in Town to ban retail marijuana operations in Middletown.
- Got a report from Town Engineer Warren Hall to improve drainage in the Birchwood Manor neighborhood, a longstanding issue. Town officials said they would continue to work to try to fix those problems, subject to funding.
- Heard a request on behalf of the school maintenance union to use some of the Town’s American Rescue Plan Act funding to increase the pay for the 23 members. A union representative said the staff have taken zero pay increases for years and were among the lowest paid employees in Middletown, an item expected to be on the agenda for the April 4 meeting.
Next meeting: Monday, April 4, 2022 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
