Middletown Police Encourages Extra Caution for First Day of School
Town of Middletown
September 11, 2020
The Middletown Police Department is asking motorists to use extra care on area roads with the opening of school Monday, September 14.
The department announced this week that officers will be out throughout the community, enforcing traffic violations and regulations. At the same time, officers will greet students, teachers and other staff with a smile in anticipation of the school year.
Motorists are reminded to yield at all times to school buses picking and dropping off students. Because there are no divided roads in town, traffic must stop on both directions while students board and unload from buses.
Drivers are also asked to keep an eye on their speeds. In school zones, the speed limit is 20 mph and marked by signs and flashing lights.
Police officials said the goal of the effort is to make sure everyone is safe and enjoys the upcoming school year. For more information, contact Middletown Police at 846-1144.
