Matt Sheley was hired as the town's first Public Affairs Officer in August 2020.
Prior to being hired, Sheley was a reporter for The Newport Daily News for 18 years, covering everything Middletown and beyond.
Before that, Sheley worked as a reporter for The Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut and The Westerly Sun.
Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, Sheley is also a certified social studies teacher in the State of Rhode Island.
